Porsche buys electric bike maker

Porsche has bought Fazua, an electric bike company. Fazua has developed the Fazua Drive System, which combines electric drive and pedal drive, which is used by many other manufacturers. An interesting feature of this in-carriage system is the ability to remove the battery and electric motor from the bike, for example, to reduce its weight.

As part of the deal, Porsche acquires a 20% stake in Fazua for a stated amount, with the option to buy enough additional shares to give Porsche a majority stake.

Previously, Porsche has already released two models of high-end electric bikes under its own brand. It also recently acquired a majority stake in Greyp, a premium electric mountain bike company designed by electric hypercar maker Rimac.
