Over 20 million fully wireless headsets (TWS) sold in India in 2021

Last year was a record year for the Indian true wireless headset (TWS) market, with 20.3 million units shipped, up 74.7% from 2020, according to an IDC report. Pandemic-driven use cases continued to shape demand for smart audio devices, with shipments tripling year-on-year in the first half of the year, analysts said. Holiday discounts, competitive prices, numerous novelties and the entry of new entrants into the market all led to growth in the second half of the year.

The market is dominated by local suppliers. In 2021, they provided more than 65% of supplies, while in 2020 they owned about half of the market. Imagine Marketing, which owns the BoAt brand, is the clear leader with a 39.3% market share, more than the combined share of the seven vendors following BoAt in the ranking.

Realme is in second place, but the share of this company decreased from 13.1% to 7.7% over the year. Next comes Nexxbase (Noise brand), which was able to increase its share from 4.5% to 7.5%. The top five also includes Palred (pTron brand) and Samsung. The share of the former decreased from 7.6% to 6.0% over the year, and the share of the latter decreased from 10.6% to 4.7%.

Experts note that the average selling price has dropped to $32.8. In 2020, it was equal to 43.6 dollars.
