Moscow court upholds Meta fine of almost 2 billion rubles

The Tagansky Court of Moscow upheld the appointment of Meta Platforms (owns Facebook and Instagram) a fine of almost 2 billion rubles for not deleting prohibited information. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press secretary of the court Zulfiya Gurinchuk.

“The court dismissed the appeal of the company representative and upheld the decision to impose a fine,” she said.

Earlier it was reported that Moscow courts imposed turnover fines on Google and Meta. The reason is the refusal to remove illegal materials. The first IT giant will have to pay 1.99 billion rubles, the second - 7.2 billion rubles.

The RKN warned that if companies continue to violate the laws of the Russian Federation, they will face new fines. In turn, a representative of the Meta company said that the court decision to recover almost 2 billion rubles could have the opposite effect for Russia.
