Analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" summed up the results of the eighth annual study "Residual value - 2022" (preservation of the residual value of the car).
As a result, ratings were compiled among the "mass" and "premium" segments with an additional division into classes. When compiling, cars of 55 brands, 335 models and 1100 modifications were investigated (taking into account the type of body, engine size and transmission type). The analysis used the price of a new car in 2018 and its resale price in 2021.
Among low-cost B-class cars, the leaders were Kia Rio, Renault Sandero and Citroen C3 Aircross. In the category of mass compact crossovers, the Korean Hyundai Creta turned out to be the most liquid. Lada Largus turned out to be the most liquid station wagon with an index of 100.4%.
The residual value indices for them were 106.7%, 104.7% and 104.4%, as well as 112.7% and 100.4%. An index above 100% means that now owners can resell such a used car for more than the price for which they were bought in 2018.
Among the premium ones, the Porsche Cayenne crossover stands out for its liquidity with an index of 113.3%, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV (Gelendvagen) with an index of 106.5%, the Audi A5 Sportback (105.2%), the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (101.9%), Volvo XC40 (101.5%), Lexus ES (100.9%) and Mercedes-Benz S-Class (81.4%).
