Steam Deck gaming console performance on par with AMD Ryzen 7 3700U released in 2019

The Steam Deck game console will soon go to its first customers: shipments of devices will start on February 25th. Meanwhile, someone already tested the console on Geekbench, and it showed performance on par with a three-year-old AMD processor.

Geekbench identified the console as Valve Jupiter and its platform as AMD Custom 0405. The quad-core CPU is multi-threaded, has 4MB L3 cache, and runs at 2.8-3.5GHz. APU belongs to the Van Gogh family, it is equipped with an integrated GPU with eight computing units and a frequency of 1.0-1.6 GHz.

The console scored 830 points in the single-threaded test and 3666 points in the multi-threaded test. The results are much worse than the top MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, and about the same level as the 2019 AMD Ryzen 7 3700U APU.
