The developers of The Sims 4, after criticism from users, decided to release the Wedding Stories DLC in Russia with LGBT characters

On February 16, 2022, the developers of The Sims 4, after criticism from users around the world, decided to release an addition to the game called "Wedding Stories" in Russia with LGBT characters.

Earlier, Electronic Arts announced that it would not release the My Wedding Stories add-on in Russia, since the add-on set contains LGBT topics prohibited in the country, although the game itself has an 18+ rating.

After this statement, users from all over the world began to accuse Electronic Arts of violating their own values (the ability to create any story without restrictions) and launched a Twitter action in support of the release of the DLC in Russia.

Electronic Arts said that due to the return of the Russian adaptation of the DLC, the publisher even decided to push back the global release of the entire Wedding Stories add-on to February 23. Previously, the DLC was supposed to be released on February 15 without a release in Russia.

Since 2013, a law has been in force in Russia that prohibits “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” among minors. In 2017, the European Court of Human Rights found the law discriminatory and in violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
