Skype on PC clients has implemented support for emergency calls, while the option is available in some countries

According to Verge, Skype has updated the capabilities of the client version for PC on Windows, macOs and Linux. There it became possible to make an emergency call, for example, to 911. So far, this option is available in some countries - the USA, Australia, Great Britain, Denmark and Finland.

Skype explained that with such a call, the system will automatically transmit the exact location of the calling user to the rescue service, but for this the system must be allowed access to geodata.

The developers clarified that this option allows you to contact rescuers or call for emergency help when mobile communications become unavailable or a regular wired telephone line does not work, but you have access to an Internet connection on a PC via any of the remaining communication channels.

In Russia, emergency services can be reached through the Skype mobile application. It initiates a call through the standard dialing system of the mobile device and uses the user's mobile network operator for communication.
