Recently, the first reviews of new generation AMD mobile processors appeared on the Web. To be more precise, mostly Ryzen 9 6900HS. And although there were several reviews, they were all far from the most voluminous. Now we have a more holistic view of the new lineup as we have a big look at the more affordable Ryzen 5 6600H and Ryzen 7 6800H. True, the emphasis in the review is on the iGPU.

To begin with, we recall that the Ryzen 5 6600H has six cores with frequencies of 3.3-4.5 GHz and a Radeon 660M GPU with 384 stream processors. Ryzen 7 6800H already has eight cores with frequencies of 3.2-4.7 GHz and a Radeon 680M graphics core with 768 stream processors.

If we are talking about the performance of the processor part, there are few tests here. And they do not allow us to draw any conclusion, because in some tests the Ryzen 5 6600H performs at the level of the Core i5-12500H, and the Ryzen 7 6800H competes with the Core i7-12700H, in some tests AMD processors are noticeably faster, and in some, on the contrary, Intel innovations are confidently ahead.

As for the GPU, everything is clearer here. To begin with, you can evaluate how much the speed of RAM affects the performance of the integrated graphics core.

And the performance in general, as we see, is very high. The Radeon 680M is head and shoulders above all competitors in benchmarks, and in games it roughly matches the discrete GeForce MX450. Out of 14 games, Nvidia's decision is solidly ahead in five. In three, it is noticeably ahead of the iGPU in the Ryzen 7 6800H. In the rest, the cards are approximately equal, and the difference between them in absolute terms does not play a special role. As for the Radeon 660M, this core has half as many stream processors, but even that is enough to easily outperform the core in the Ryzen 9 5900HS and often outperform the iGPU in the Core i7-12700H and Core i5-12500H.

At the same time, interestingly, if the power limit for the Ryzen 5 6600H is increased from 25 to 42 W, then its graphic performance in most games will be identical to the performance of the Radeon 680M in the Ryzen 7 6800H! And this is with half the number of execution units for the GPU. That is, apparently, the potential of the GPU in both cases is severely limited by power limits.

Another interesting test shows that the new AMD APUs experience only a slight drop in performance on battery power, unlike the previous generation of Ryzen. However, for the same Core i5-12500H, this figure is even better.
