Research: 56% of young Russians are thinking about starting their own startup

More than half of the surveyed Russians aged 18-30 would like to create their own startup.

A study conducted by the research company ResearchMe in collaboration with the services Citymobil for Business and VK Education showed that 38% of 990 surveyed Russians aged 18 to 30 perceive a startup as a distant dream, while 18% of respondents already prepared a plan for the development of their own business. Another 4% of respondents have already launched their startup, but would like to try again.

At the same time, 22% of the study participants were against the idea of ​​organizing their own startup, and another 14% never thought about it.

The survey showed that, on average, every fifth young Russian is now studying a profession that is new to himself, self-educated using video lectures, study guides and other sources available on the Internet.

According to ResearchMe, the largest number of young people involved in self-development live in the Siberian and Ural Federal Districts - 33%. In Moscow and the Moscow region, 24% of those surveyed fell into this category.

Based on the responses, the researchers compiled a list of the most attractive industries for starting a startup:

38% - advertising technologies and marketing;

33% - food and grocery delivery services;

24% - educational technologies;

17% - medical developments.

The number of respondents planning to build a career in Russia was 44%. 12% of respondents spoke about work abroad - most often young people living in cities with a population of more than 500 thousand people spoke about it. 10% of young people plan to combine work at home and abroad.

Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Pavel Durov, Mark Zuckerberg, as well as Steve Jobs, Colonel Sanders, Mike Tyson, Walt Disney, Oleg Tinkov, Igor Rybakov, Ksenia Sobchak and Maurizio Gucci - these personalities, according to about a quarter of the study participants, inspire starting your own business.
