Production of a completely new Kia Sportage began in Russia: photo from the factory

The Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has begun production of the fifth-generation Kia Sportage crossover, which will go on sale in the second quarter of this year.

In the Russian market, the new Kia Sportage will be presented with a wheelbase increased to 2755 mm. The overall length of the car is 4660 mm. Compared to the current generation, the wheelbase has increased by 85mm and the length by 175mm. The overall width of the new Sportage is 1865 mm, and the height (depending on specification) is from 1660 to 1680 mm.

The most popular Comfort version will be equipped with a 150 hp 2-litre petrol engine, a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The price will be from 2 million 329 thousand 900 rubles. In the Comfort package, the car will also be equipped with LED headlights, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors. The crossover has dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch infotainment system and wireless access to Apple Carplay/Android Auto. The branded “Warm Options” package for the Comfort package includes heated windshield washer nozzles, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, and an additional electric interior heater.

Also, versions with a 2.5-liter engine (190 hp and 242 Nm of torque) will be available to customers. The choice will be available 6-speed manual gearbox or 6- or 8-speed automatic. Versions with an all-wheel drive system will be available.

The equipment will include: a new generation of electronically controlled suspension ECS, a new system for selecting types of terrain Terrain Mode, frontal collision avoidance system FCAA with the function of avoiding collisions with oncoming traffic when left turn JT, highway traffic assistant HDA, intelligent cruise control with information from the navigation system (NSCC), the ISLA intelligent speed limiter, as well as the intelligent remote parking assistant.
