Semiconductor investment to grow 34% this year to $ 152 billion

IC Insights analysts have updated their semiconductor capex estimate for this year. They believe that capital expenditures will grow by 34% compared to last year and reach 152.0 billion dollars. This is the highest rate since 2017, when it grew by 41%.

Considering individual categories, IC Insights experts expect that in the segment of microcontrollers and microprocessors, growth will be 42%, in the segment of logical microcircuits - 40%, in the segment of DRAM and SRAM - 34%, in the segment of flash memory and non-volatile memory in general - 13 %. Analogue and other semiconductor capex will grow 41%.

If we talk about segment sizes, microcontrollers and microprocessors are 15%, logical microcircuits - 8%, DRAM and SRAM - 16%, non-volatile memory - 18%, analog and others - 7%. Investments in contract manufacturing are highlighted in a separate line. They will grow by 42%, and the size of this segment is 35%. Note that TSMC, the world's largest contract manufacturer, will account for 57% of the $ 53.0 billion invested in contract manufacturing worldwide this year.
