Today the court will consider Khokhlov's lawsuit against Facebook - the social network continues to ban for mentioning the name of the coach

Ex-football player of the Russian national team and football coach Dmitry Khokhlov continues to sue the social network Facebook because of his last name, writes RIA Novosti. Solntsevsky Court of Moscow today will consider the claim of Khokhlov, the meeting is scheduled for 14:30 Moscow time.

This was reported to RIA Novosti in court. The court will return to consider the lawsuit from the coach, who requires the social network not to ban his name.

During the previous hearing, a representative of the social network filed a motion to dismiss the case due to its lack of jurisdiction of the Solntsevsky Court of Moscow. The representative of the plaintiff asked to postpone the meeting in order to get acquainted with the position of Meta, which owns the social network.

Dmitry Khokhlov asks the court to oblige Facebook to unblock all mention of his name in posts and comments, as well as to pay him 150 million rubles in moral damages. A representative of the former footballer said that Khokhlov, being a public person, is interested in mentioning his name, but this does not happen due to blocking from Facebook.

Khokhlov sued Facebook in September 2021. According to him, the social network interprets his last name as a derogatory name for Ukrainians, which is why the coach cannot use Facebook and Instagram. Khokhlov explained that any mention of his last name leads to a blocking for a week.

Facebook has been blocking posts with various variations of the word “Khokhly” since 2015. In addition to frankly offensive materials, works of art were blocked, for example, Alexander Pushkin's poem "My family tree", which contains the phrase "I did not jump from Ukrainians to princes." Social media users were blocked for posting this poem.
