Class-Compliant Apple Claims Apple Watch Is Dangerous To Wear

Five California residents have filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, Inc., accusing the company of cheating and not meeting warranty terms. Defective batteries caused their Apple Watches to break, swell and become dangerous due to the sharp edges of their screens.

According to one of the lawyers representing the plai.jpgs, people who spend hundreds of dollars to buy an Apple Watch trust Apple, believing that it has taken all measures during production to ensure the reliability and safety of its products. Therefore, he believes that the company should be held accountable for failing to protect customers.

The plai.jpgs argue that Apple was aware of the described defect, but did nothing to prevent the consequences, or protect users from injuries associated with cracked and peeling screens. The lawsuit says that the swollen battery presses with great force on the screen from below, which causes it to peel off and crack, after which there is a danger of cutting itself on sharp corners, and the watch stops working normally.

Plai.jpgs say that this defect was observed on all watches - Apple Watch First Generation, from Series 1 to Series 6, and Series SE. One of the plai.jpgs managed to cut his wrist on the screen that came out of the watch. Chris Smith, who received a Series 3 Watch for Christmas 2017, cut himself on the watch screen so that a vein in his arm opened.

Lithium polymer batteries can indeed swell due to both manufacturing defect and misuse. Such a battery may explode or catch fire.

This is not the first time a lawsuit has been filed against Apple Watch - in 2019, a New Jersey woman suffered in a similar case, but the judge decided that the incident was not related to defects in watch components, and the lawsuit was dismissed.

In the r / AppleWatch thread of the Reddit forum, for many years, photos have been posted of how the battery of smartwatches squeezes out the screen. Apple's own forum is full of people complaining about bloated batteries - the last one happened as recently as two weeks ago.
