Media: Safari is gradually losing ground among popular desktop browsers

The publication 9to5Mac analyzed the popularity rating of desktop browsers and found out that Safari is losing users. Edge, Firefox and Opera are catching up. Experts noted that if things continue like this, then in the coming months Safari may lose its status as the second most popular browser in the world.

Journalists analyzed data from the StatCounter website and noticed that Safari uses 9.84% of the total number of users and this allows the browser to take second place among all browsers. But it began to catch up with Microsoft Edge with 9.54% and Firefox with 9.18%.

The specialists noted that over the past year, the popularity of Safari has decreased from 10.38% to the current figure, while other browsers have added 1-2% each. The most popular browser is still Google Chrome with an impressive 65.38% of the total number of users.

If you pay attention to individual regions, then in the US Safari is used by 18.12% of users, but in Europe the browser has already lost its second place. At the same time, it is important to consider that Safari is only available on computers running macOS, which greatly limits its growth in popularity, which directly depends on the prevalence of iMacbook.

Journalists 9to5Mac suggested that the decline in popularity among users may be due to the slow addition of new features. It often happens that other companies quickly manage to add support for new standards and tools.
