Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 gets smartphone camera control and other useful features

Samsung announced the Galaxy Fit 2 fitness band in September 2020. Nearly a year and a half after its debut, the wearable is getting a firmware update that adds some useful features.

According to TizenHelp, Samsung has started rolling out a software update for the Galaxy Fit 2 in India that weighs just 2.16MB. It comes with firmware version R220XXU1AVB8. The update should be available in other regions in the coming days.

The latest update for Galaxy Fit 2 includes three new features. Users can finally control their smartphone's camera shutter on their fitness tracker. In addition, they can now send messages when they reject an incoming call. Finally, the update also adds a Jump Rope sport mode.

The changelog states that the camera shutter control feature only works on devices running Android 7.0 Nougat or higher. The previous firmware update for Galaxy Fit 2 was released at the end of March 2021.

At the moment, there are no rumors of a successor to this fitness tracker. Also, it is unknown how long Samsung will provide software support for this product.
