ICD summed up the results of the first hackathon for Data Science specialists

Credit Bank of Moscow (MCB) has summed up the results of the first open hackathon for young Data Science specialists.

The hackathon participants solved the problem of building a model for assessing the likelihood of fulfillment of obligations by a bank client upon receipt of a bank guarantee. More than 600 specialists took part in the competition. The winners were selected by the expert team of the bank and the Skillbox online school based on a preliminary assessment of the submitted works using artificial intelligence. The three best solutions were awarded with valuable prizes from the ICD.

“The hackathon took place in an extremely sharp and intense struggle. The density of the results in the final ranking suggests that the majority of participants have thoroughly approached the solution of the proposed problem. The second and third places in the ranking were shared by one ten thousandth ROC-AUC. In order for the winners to be determined not by the minimum differences in speed, we also asked the top 20 participants to send their solutions. We hoped that the proposed approaches to solving the problem would be good not only from the point of view of maximizing the target metric, but also from the point of view of its applicability in practice. We also checked the solutions from the point of view of clarity and transparency of the code, ”said Nikita Veselov, Head of the Risk Modeling Department of MKB.

The top 20 hackathon participants who offered the most interesting jobs received an invitation to join the ICD team.

“Thank you so much for taking part in the hackathon. This is the first such event for a bank - a data science marathon, and it is very symbolic for us, since the bank is on the verge of a serious technological transformation. Well, what technologies are there without data science. Therefore, we will be very happy if talented young specialists become part of this transformation, ”said Olga Yudakova, Head of the Risk Directorate of the ICB.
