Semiconductor maker TSMC intends to comply with export control regulations for Russia

The Taiwan authorities will join the sanctions against Russia. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer, intends to fully comply with export control rules in relation to Russia.

“The [Taiwan] government deeply regrets that Russia has chosen to use force and intimidation instead of settling disputes through peaceful diplomatic negotiations. In order to force the Russian Federation to stop military aggression against Ukraine and resume peaceful dialogue between all interested parties as soon as possible, the government of Taiwan announces that it will join international economic sanctions against Russia," the statement on the agency's website says.

The head of the Taiwanese government, Su Zhengchang, said that "Russia undermined the regional peace by invading Ukraine, which caused the condemnation of the whole world."

Russia is not a major market for Taiwanese goods. According to statistics, the share of Russia and Ukraine in Taiwanese exports does not exceed 1%.

"Taiwan will continue to closely coordinate with the United States and other like-minded countries to take appropriate measures to rid Ukraine of the horrors of war, and restore peace and stability as soon as possible," the foreign ministry added.
