Lbbabo.netSU$ hackers hacked NVIDIA and stole more than 1 TB of the company's critical data, NVIDIA hacked the hackers with a ransomware in response

According to VideoCardz and the Vx-underground group, Lbbabo.netSU$ hackers hacked NVIDIA's internal network and copied over 1TB of the company's critical data. NVIDIA tried to hack and encrypt the copied sensitive data to prevent its distribution. She almost managed to do it, but backup helped the hackers.

According to insiders, after hacking, penetrating the perimeter and downloading more than 1 TB of data, Lbbabo.netSU$ itself was subjected to a reverse attack by NVIDIA information security specialists. They succeeded in infiltrating the group's computer systems, deleting or encrypting all the stolen data. However, Lbbabo.netSU$ still had a backup of the leak on the virtual machine, where NVIDIA specialists could not get.

Lbbabo.netSU$ accused NVIDIA of using network criminal tools.

The experts explained that previously IT companies had not acted so aggressively to protect their data. Usually they either put up with the loss of data or paid a ransom to hackers not to release the stolen information.

A South American hacker group called Lbbabo.netU$, despite being subjected to a reverse counterattack by NVIDIA, was able to save the obtained information and even began to distribute it in a closed community. For example, they published the source code for the NVIDIA drivers there.

Earlier media reported that NVIDIA is investigating and analyzing the scope and consequences of a cyber attack, including using a ransomware virus, on some of its systems. The incident happened at the end of February. Currently, work within the company is carried out as usual. NVIDIA cybersecurity specialists did not disclose whether attackers gained access to confidential information or data of customers and partners during the intrusion into the company's network.
