The head of Instagram announced three new features of the social network

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, spoke on his Twitter account about the new features of the social network. Some of the innovations are seasonal and will last until the end of this year, while others are being tested and may remain in the application's arsenal for a long time.

The first function is called IGPlayback and allows users to create a cut from "Stories", which will tell about the brightest events in the user's life in the past year. In total, up to ten Stories can be enabled in IGPlayback. To do this, the user must have published at least three "Stories" in the last 12 months. If there are none, then you can take them from the archive. Instagram algorithms themselves will select the most popular and interesting publications, but if the user has a desire, then he can independently make his choice. It is important to note that the IGPlayback feature will be available before the end of this year.

The second feature, Reels Visual Replies, allows users to reply to comments with Reels videos up to 60 seconds long. Mosseri talked about how the new format for visual responses can help to communicate more clearly and grab the attention of users. Previously, a similar way of responding to comments appeared on the TikTok platform. It is also worth noting that 60-second Reels are not yet available in all regions, and 15-second and 30-second are available everywhere.

The latter feature allows you to embed Instagram profiles on websites. In this case, the user can share both his own account and any other. This feature can be useful for embedding a profile in personal blogs and web portfolios. It is important to note that while the function is only available to users from the United States, and a demonstration of the very possibility can be seen in the Mosseri video.

Also on December 16, 2021, it became known that Instagram began testing 60-second Stories. So far, the extended post format is only available in Turkey.
