The Skolkovo Foundation recently spoke about cooperation with the RM Rail company, which is one of the leading manufacturers of freight rolling stock in Russia. The partners signed an agreement, which, in particular, provides for the creation of a research center on the basis of Technopark-Mordovia. Read about the details of the project under the cut.
So, according to the agreement, RM Rail Holding will develop freight rolling stock and large-capacity containers, including using new materials, equipment for oil and gas processing, as well as storage and transportation of energy carriers (liquefied natural gas, hydrogen). In the near future, the R&D center of this organization will begin full-fledged work on the project.
“Our goal is to develop in the region not only a large-scale production of freight cars and related, strategically important products for the country, but also the formation of an intellectual school with research and development competencies. In this regard, Skolkovo is an indispensable partner. We expect that this cooperation will strengthen the work of our engineering center, promising projects for the production of cryogenic equipment for LNG and hydrogen will receive additional support,” said Konstantin Danilov, President of RM Rail Holding.
Skolkovo is already cooperating with RM Rail Holding: with the support of the regional operator of the Fund, the company is implementing an investment project "Designing Freight Rail Cars Using 3D Modeling, Texturing and Animation Software". Also, on the basis of the Technopark, the formation of a machine-building industrial cluster began.

It should be noted that RM Rail has more than enough expertise to work on such a large-scale project. Thus, it is an integrated manufacturer of freight rolling stock, the largest in terms of output and the share of a specialized fleet in Russia. In addition to wagons, the company manufactures equipment for the oil and petrochemical industries, tanks, modular buildings and containers. The facilities of RM Rail combine its own engineering center, a developed production base, a foundry complex, and a rolling stock repair and maintenance business. The main enterprises are located in the Republics of Mordovia and Khakassia.
