Cloudflare will not block Russian users

On March 7, 2022, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said that the platform for protecting content and secure access to information resources will not block all users from the Russian Federation and stop its services in the country. The head of Cloudflare considers any attempts to block access to ordinary users to an open and secure Internet a mistake.

We have carefully reviewed all requests to block Russian users and discussed them with government and civil society experts. Our conclusion is that they need more internet access, not less. We are seeing a sharp increase in requests from Russian networks to global media, which shows the desire of ordinary Russians to see world news, and not just read domestic media in the country. Given Cloudflare's ability to provide access to a more open and secure internet, we consider the complete shutdown to be a mistake."

- wrote the head of Cloudflare. In early March, some experts said that Cloudflare would stop providing DDoS protection to Russian companies, organizations and individuals. The company has not confirmed this.
