Google bought Mandiant for $5.4 billion

Google has bought cybersecurity firm Mandiant for $5.4 billion, according to Reuters.

Google expects to complete this transaction at the end of 2022 after receiving approval from US regulators and oversight agencies.

Market experts believe that Mandiant will join Google's cloud technology division and strengthen the security of the company's cloud services by introducing its software tools to protect and quickly reflect threats on the network. With this deal, Google wants to improve the security of its systems, as well as provide customers and partners with advanced cyber threat protection systems in the Google Cloud and security consulting services.

Mandiant was founded in 2004 by US Air Force officer Kevin Mandia. The company now employs more than 600 consultants and 300 cybersecurity analysts.

For Google, the purchase of Mandiant will be the second largest acquisition since taking control of Motorola Mobility in 2012 for $12.5 billion.

In February of this year, Microsoft was in talks to buy Mandiant. As a result, the companies could not agree due to disagreements on the necessary competencies.
