Roblox will launch on PlayStation

Roblox has posted a job opening for a senior developer to create the Roblox app for PlayStation. Release dates have not yet been announced.

The job description states that the company is looking for an individual who will “help build and maintain the Roblox game engine for the Sony PlayStation platform,” including “every part of the application, from target platform integration and customization of the user interface to performance optimization.”

“Every day, tens of millions of people from all over the world come to Roblox to play, learn, work and connect with exciting digital games created by the community. Our vision is to create a platform that allows the sharing of experiences among billions of users. This is what is known as the metaverse: a permanent space where anyone can do almost anything they can imagine, from anywhere in the world and on any device.

Roblox CEO David Bashuki has hinted at scaling Roblox to various devices in 2021, saying that the Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation, and Oculus Quest "make sense for Roblox in the long run."

Hitting the PlayStation won't be Roblox's console debut: The platform launched on Xbox One back in early 2016 and is still on Microsoft's top 50 games list.

From the applicant, Roblox requires more than 5 years of experience in developing applications for game consoles, knowledge of modern C ++, experience with Lua or interest in learning it. Among the benefits of working for the company, Roblox lists an impressive benefits package, flexible vacation policy, training programs, and free meals five times a week. Roblox hasn't given a release date for the PlayStation app, only saying it's "recruiting like crazy."
