Peloton adds full Apple Watch support to its range of cardio equipment

The American manufacturer of sports equipment Peloton announced that it has fully integrated the Apple Watch into its own production simulators. Now activity indicators are automatically transmitted to the watch right during a workout, and simulators receive heart rate data from Apple Watch and show them to the user on the built-in display.

The new features are available on the Peloton Bike Plus exercise bikes, as well as on the Peloton Tread treadmill. The manufacturer assures that the user can simply start exercising, and the simulator will automatically give the watch a command that from this moment it is necessary to start recording activity.

At the end of the workout, the watch will show overall statistics for all key indicators and record the data in the history of the proprietary Peloton app. In addition, the data will fall into the Apple Health log and close the Activity Rings.

To enable the feature, you need to install the Peloton app on your iPhone or iPad and Apple Watch. After that, you will need to go into the application itself and go through the step-by-step setup process.

Something similar was previously implemented by Apple itself. Cupertino introduced the GymKit tool to manufacturers of sports equipment, which allows branded watches and exercise equipment to exchange data using NFC. The user could bring the watch to the reader before the start of the lesson and pair it with the simulator, from that moment the training data began to be synchronized with the Apple Watch.
