According to the Kommersant publication, the American online platform eBay has suspended the sale of goods in the Russian Federation and blocked all transactions towards Russian sellers. They are now set to "On Vacation".
eBay explained that it took such measures due to the cessation of foreign payment systems (VISA and Mactercard) and international delivery services (DHL, FedEx and UPS) in Russia.
eBay has informed all Russian sellers registered on the site that their account status will now be set to "On Vacation". All ads from Russian sellers with a fixed price will be removed from the search results, and all ads in the auction format will be automatically completed.
“If a buyer has previously added your item to their Watchlist and tries to purchase it while the On Vacation status is active, the user will not be able to complete the purchase. He will be presented with a message stating that the seller is temporarily unable to process orders, ”specified in eBay.
eBay said that sellers from Russia will be able to issue new subscriptions, change the level of existing ones or complete them. They will be reimbursed for recurring subscription tier and product display fees.
“If you have previous orders that were not completed prior to the implementation of the above measures, we recommend that you cancel these orders,” recommends eBay.
eBay added that order cancellations will not affect the seller's account status.
On February 28, eBay announced that it continues to work for Russian buyers and sellers, however, due to the deteriorating logistical situation, it warns of possible delays in import deliveries to Russian users.
