The UK Financial Markets Compliance Authority has ordered the closure of all cryptocurrency ATMs, Interfax reports. The agency declared them illegal, since no company in the country received a license to install them.

The regulator said that all UK cryptocurrency ATMs should be stopped. The department noted that refusal to comply with the order threatens with punishment, but did not specify which one.

There are currently 81 such ATMs in the UK. The FDA warned the British that such devices are not regulated, so consumers are not protected in any way, for example, from losing money.

The agency also published a list of companies that are engaged in cryptocurrency transactions, but have not received a license for this and have not been tested for money laundering. After that, 110 companies from the list stopped selling digital assets.
