Slack confirmed disconnection of customers from Russia

According to the Kommersant edition, the corporate messenger Slack reported that it began to disconnect Russian clients from its service due to sanctions.

Slack clarified that it does not delete anyone's data. However, sanctioned companies cannot access information until the sanctions are lifted.

“Slack has begun shutting down access to some customers in Russia as it seeks to comply with both international sanctions and the policies of parent company Salesforce,” the company explained in a press release.

The company clarified that the shutdown of services will mainly affect the organizations of the Russian Federation, which are subject to direct sanctions, since their conditions require the immediate termination of interaction without prior notice to customers.

On March 15, Russian Slack users in the reviews in the App Store and Play Store began to massively complain about the deletion of workspaces without warning. Deletion takes place regardless of the tariff and audience, and also without the possibility of preliminary saving data. Judging by the reviews, remote workspaces had an audience from a few dozen to a thousand people. Slack has not published an official warning about the removal of workspaces in Russia.

Users have reported that Slack accounts are being deleted without warning or the ability to save data. Many of them had a paid version paid for a year in advance. According to users, 1,500-2,000 people worked in Slack spaces.

Slack disabled Sberbank. The financial institution explained that Slack was used by less than 5% of development teams, and they have already switched to alternative products.

Slack alternatives: TamTam, AMO, Yandex Messenger, Dialog, Cybrus, Rocket Chat, TrueConf, Mattermost.
