The Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft with Japanese tourists undocked from the ISS

The Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft undocked from the Poisk module of the Russian segment of the International Space Station. TASS reports.

On board the spacecraft are Roskosmos cosmonaut, ship commander Alexander Misurkin and two Japanese tourists: billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and his assistant Yozo Hirano.

At 05:18 Moscow time, the ship will turn on the engines for braking and leave orbit.

The landing is expected in the steppes of Kazakhstan, 148 km southeast of the city of Zhezkazgan, at 06:13 Moscow time.

The Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft with the same composition was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on December 8. The flight to the space station was carried out according to a four-orbital scheme. The docking took place automatically.

Maezawa is one of the richest people in Japan, first of all, he gained fame as the founder of the online fashion store Zozotown. In addition, he collects art objects, founded the Contemporary Art Foundation and several years ago set a record by buying a painting by an American artist for $ 110.5 million.

In addition to art, Maezawa loves space: he bought a ticket for the projected Starship spacecraft Elon Musk, which will have to send him to fly around the moon. During the dearMoon project, the billionaire will select 8 more civilians to fly with him, including cultural figures. With Starship in its early stages of testing and has yet to complete any orbital flights, the Maezawa deal can be considered an investment rather than a ticket purchase.

Before leaving for the ISS, Maezawa made a list of 100 wishes that he would like to fulfill in space.
