SpaceX to raise prices for Starlink satellite internet from May

SpaceX has announced that due to inflation, it will raise tariffs on Starlink satellite internet packages from May. Price tags will increase from $499 to $549 for pre-orderers and to $599 for all new orders.

The company's customers have already received relevant notices. They also say that the cost of a monthly Starlink subscription will increase from $99 to $110. The new rates will come into effect on May 11, 2022.

The company explains: “The sole purpose of these adjustments is to keep up with rising inflation. If you do not want to continue using the services, you can cancel at any time and return the Starlink equipment within the first year of service for a partial refund of $200. If you received your Starlink kit within the last 30 days, you can return it for a full refund."

SpaceX notes that since the launch of the public beta in October 2020, the team has already tripled the number of satellites in orbit, and will maintain its pace of network improvements and adding new features going forward.

The SpaceX constellation already has about 2,300 Starlink satellites in orbit.

Earlier it was reported that SpaceX began offering Starlink Premium service to users. The company promises that it will provide internet speeds of 150 to 500 Mbps with 20 to 40 ms latency, compared to 50 to 250 Mbps (20 to 40 ms latency) in a regular plan. The cost of the tariff will be $500 per month.
