On March 23, cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev took part in a meeting of the capital's parliament with the help of the Russian IVA MCU video communication platform from the International Space Station (ISS). The technical solution made it possible to organize two-way uninterrupted video conferencing with the Earth in real time.

From near-earth orbit, a draft law of the city of Moscow "On awards and honorary titles of the city of Moscow" was presented, on the establishment of a new title - "Honorary Worker of Information Technologies and Communications of the City of Moscow."

“Today we are creating a unique precedent. This has never happened before in history. Not in any parliament of the planet. We have the right to be proud of the historical achievement of our country in space and the introduction of the most modern information and communication technologies into parliamentary work.”

The project was implemented by the efforts of Roskosmos, the Department of Information Technologies of the City of Moscow, IVA Technologies, and the Moscow City Duma.

“Modern video conferencing technologies have long been available and have actually erased the barriers that limit interactive communications in the modern world. It was they who made it possible to realize today what seemed like science fiction not so long ago. The Russian videoconferencing system provided full-fledged video communication with the orbiting space station. We are rightfully proud of this event and are grateful to all those organizations and specific people who made it possible to implement this significant and very interesting project!”

The IVA MCU is developed by IVA Technologies and is a secure interaction video conferencing platform. IVA Technologies has a support program for Russian companies, under which it provides a license to the platform for free.
