Google released Chrome 100

Google has released an update for the Chrome 100 browser. In the new version, they worked on improving security, adding additional features for developers, and completely switching to a new icon design. The Google Chrome blog notes that this is the first version of the browser to have a three-digit number. In honor of this historic moment, the company has collected the most significant and interesting events in the development of the Internet over the past 14 years and published them on the site in the form of a chronological feed.

First of all, the developers changed the visual style of the browser icon. The new design was presented in early February 2022. Then the company said that it had not changed its appearance for more than eight years, but still decided to simplify the design. In addition, the logo was adapted for different operating systems so that it does not stand out from the overall design code of the systems. For over a month, the icons have been available exclusively to Chrome Canary users. With the release of Chrome 100, the new icon design is available to everyone.

In addition to icon design, the company has also worked on browser security. So it is noted that the developers fixed 28 vulnerabilities and 9 of them were with a high level of danger. In this regard, experts advise updating as soon as possible to protect personal data.

The user agent in Chrome now uses a three-digit version number. Since September 2021, Google began to check how such a record will affect the operation of sites that require browser version data to work. It is noted that some sites may not open, but many developers added support for three-digit version numbers last year. Also, along with the release of the update, Google once again urged site owners to test performance with Chrome 100. The company drew attention to the fact that Firefox will also soon switch to a three-digit notation.

In the 100th version, we added an bbabo.netI for working with multiple monitors. Google noted that more users are starting to use pairs of monitors, and in order to provide a better user experience, developers must be able to receive information about these screens. For example, if a user launches a presentation from a laptop connected to a TV, then he clearly wants the demonstration to start on the TV screen, and the laptop displays slide notes. Developers can now fully work with multiple displays and adapt their web applications to such work scenarios.

In addition to updating the browser and adding new features, Google introduced the #100CoolWebMoments website. The site is a kind of digital museum and it contains the most significant and interesting events that have occurred with the Internet over the past 14 years. The countdown starts with the first release of Google Chrome in 2008 and ends with the release of the 100th version.
