Media: Apple is going to block payment in the App Store by phone number

Mobile-Review reports that Apple intends to disable payment in the App Store by phone number from the account of the mobile operator. The restriction could come into effect as early as next week.

If it is introduced, then it will be possible to pay for purchases in the App Store only from an Apple ID account. This account can still be replenished from a mobile phone number and using the Qiwi payment system.

Meanwhile, the rating of the Wallet app in the Russian App Store has fallen to 1.5 stars out of 5 after Apple Pay restrictions. Russian users complain about the inability to add Mir cards, as well as their unilateral deactivation.

On the eve of Apple notified Sberbank about the suspension of the use of Mir cards in Apple Pay. The NSPK confirmed that the already loaded maps will soon stop working. Wallets in Samsung Pay and Mir Pay can continue to be used as usual.

At the same time, on March 15, Apple allowed users from the Russian Federation to pay for subscriptions to their services through Mir. But not everyone managed to link cards with Apple ID. The company explained this with problems from Russian banks.

According to Sensor Tower analysts, since February 24, almost 7,000 mobile applications have been removed from the Russian App Store. The company's specialists note that the applications withdrawn from the store in Russia were downloaded about 218 million times, which is more than 3% of the 6.6 billion global downloads.
