The engineer introduced the world's first Android smartphone with Lightning

Ken Pillonel, who gave the world an iPhone with USB-C, introduced an Android smartphone with Lightning. The smartphone quietly charges and transfers data to the computer. Now the author of the project is preparing a detailed video explaining the technical details.

Last year, Pillonel showed the iPhone X with a full working USB-C port instead of the usual Lightning. It took several months for all the work, and as a result, the author opened his project to everyone. The enthusiast himself sold the iPhone at an auction and earned $86,000 from the sale.

Now the developer, as he says, decided to balance this world and make a reverse project. As a result, the enthusiast managed to build a Lightning port into an Android smartphone. With it, the device is charged and can exchange data. Journalists from Engadget talked to Pillonenl and found out what was the most difficult part of the project. “The Lightning cables sold by Apple are not 'stupid'. They charge only devices from the company itself. I had to figure out a way to make the cable think it was connected to an Apple device. And then this whole system had to be somehow placed inside the smartphone case, ”said the young developer.

The engineer also noted that if USB-C in the iPhone looked advantageous and gave it new opportunities, then the Android smartphone with Lightning, on the contrary, becomes worse and loses. “I don't think anyone would want to make this their primary device. I just tried my hand at this project,” Pillonel shared.
