Non-overclockable AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor overclocked to 5.14 GHz

After the official premiere of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU with a huge cache, AMD officially declared it non-overclockable, which is even a little insulting, because the regular Ryzen 7 5800X overclocks quite normally. However, as it turned out in practice, Ryzen 7 5800X3D can also be overclocked.

This requires that the motherboard has an external clock generator that allows you to change the frequency of the BCLK bus. Here everything is about the same as with the "non-overclockable" Intel Alder Lake processors. Such a node is available on some motherboards based on the AMD X570 chipset. For example, such as MSI MEG X570 Godlike. It was she who was used in the experiment, which made it possible to force the Ryzen 7 5800X3D to operate at a frequency of 5.14 GHz. Recall that the maximum frequency of this CPU in normal operation is 4.5 GHz.

To reach the frequency of 5.14 GHz, it was necessary to raise the bus frequency to 113.01, and increase the multiplier to 45.5x. Interestingly, the voltage at the same time turned out to be equal to only 1.2 V. The result is documented, however, there is one point that attracts attention: tests for the performance of an overclocked system were not carried out, so it is not clear how stable the Ryzen 7 5800X3D works with such overclocking.
