Forbes: Sberbank and VK are discussing the sale of Kitchen in the District to the St. Petersburg delivery service 2 Bereg

The St. Petersburg food delivery service "2 Bereg" can buy "Kitchen in the area", writes Forbes, citing sources close to VK and "2 Bereg".

According to them, the joint venture of Sberbank and VK O2O Holding can transfer the service to 2 Bereg for free with an additional payment for its development.

A source close to O2O Holding denied the information about the surcharge. He added that there are three to four potential buyers for the asset. One of them is another St. Petersburg delivery service, Dostaevsky, said a Forbes interlocutor close to Kitchen in the District.

"2 Shores" is engaged in the delivery of pizza, rolls, pies. The service operates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ufa, Chelyabinsk and Veliky Novgorod. According to a Forbes interlocutor in one of the venture funds, the service is known for buying up unprofitable assets, for example, the Two Sticks restaurant chains and Ollis pizzerias.

In January 2021, Fontanka wrote that after the purchase of 2 Bereg, most of the outlets were closed: only two Ollis pizzerias out of 15 and two Dve sticks restaurants out of eight remained. According to one of the interlocutors of the publication, the service did not know how to develop the purchased businesses.

The fact that VK and Sberbank are looking for a buyer for Kitchen in the District was written by RBC at the end of March, citing four sources. According to them, Yandex was also among the potential buyers.

"Kitchen in the area" was founded in 2017. O2O Holding bought more than 80% of the service at the end of September 2020.

In December 2021, Chairman of the Board of Sberbank German Gref met with the new CEO of VK Vladimir Kiriyenko. The heads of the companies agreed to continue cooperation both in the current areas of activity and to think about expanding the partnership “even further”.

On March 11, the Citymobil taxi aggregator announced the termination of its activities in Russia, without specifying the reasons and date for closing the business. A week later, in a conversation with employees, the company explained that the service had not become profitable, despite occupying 30% of the market. At the end of March, Citymobil announced a closing date of April 15, but this did not happen. On April 14 and 15, an update of the Citymobil app for iOS and Android was released, in the description of which the developers wrote: “Everything works. Let's move on." It soon became known that O2O Holding sold the service to People&People, whose portfolio includes GruzovichkoF and TaxovichkoF.
