Russian plant Hyundai near St. Petersburg will be idle until at least July 18

Most automakers in Russia have stopped producing cars, and do not plan to resume production in the near future. This also applies to the Hyundai plant near St. Petersburg, which assembled the extremely popular Hyundai Solaris sedans in Russia. As reported, the plant will be idle until June 30.

During this time, workers will continue to receive two-thirds of their wages. And from July 4 to July 17, the plant will go on a planned corporate vacation. Thus, production will be restored on July 18. This was told by a source from the plant staff.

According to the employees of the plant, at a meeting with the management they were told that Hyundai had no plans to leave the Russian market. Reducing shifts or the number of employees is also not considered, but downtime until the end of 2022 is not excluded at the moment.
