Qualcomm is in no rush to bring its flagship Arm-based Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 laptop processor to market. So far, it's only available on the $1,200 Lenovo ThinkPad X13s laptop that runs Windows. And now his first tests appeared on the network.
Judging by them, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is significantly inferior to the latest Apple M2. In Geekbench 5, the 8cx Gen 3 processor scored 1111 points in the single-core test and 5764 points in the multi-core test. The M2 scored 1919 points in single core and 8929 points in multi-core.
That being said, even the M1 in the 2020 MacBook Air delivers the best numbers - 1740 in single-threaded mode and 7731 in multi-threaded mode.
Thus, Apple will continue to dominate the PC Arm processor market. Moreover, at the moment, the Cupertino corporation occupies almost 90% of the computer market on platforms with the Arm architecture in monetary terms.
Earlier it was said about Qualcomm's plans to release a competitor to the Apple M2 processor, but this will happen only by the end of next year.
