Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on simplifying the employment procedure for IT specialists from other countries. In addition, the decree simplifies the procedure for granting these specialists and their families a residence permit in Russia.

The explanatory note to the law refers to the simplification of the employment of foreign IT specialists who are going to be hired by accredited organizations working in the IT field. For example, professionals can obtain a residence permit without a temporary residence permit. In addition, they are not subject to the procedure for employment if they have a work permit or a patent. For the employer in this case, it will not be necessary to have permission to attract and use foreign workers.

However, the residence permit may be revoked for such professionals. This will happen in case of termination of the employment contract without renegotiation with the same or a new similar organization within 30 days. Moreover, the residence permit will be canceled not only for IT specialists, but also for their family members.
