Reduce the rise in prices for imported goods due to the actions of unfriendly countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for the legalization of parallel imports of goods into the country. The document, initiated by the government of the Russian Federation, is published on the official portal of legal information.

The law gives the Cabinet the right to determine goods to which certain provisions on the protection of exclusive rights may not apply - to the results of intellectual activity expressed in such goods, and the means of individualization with which such goods are marked. Thus, the law protects Russian companies that import goods without the permission of the right holder from possible civil, administrative and criminal liability.

As Alexander Zhukov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, explained earlier, the initiative "will reduce the rise in prices for imported goods due to the actions of unfriendly countries." In the conclusion of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, it was also noted that the law would both ensure the interests of domestic consumers and, in general, would contribute to the development of the Russian economy in the face of sanctions.

In early May, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation published a list of more than 50 categories of goods that will be available for parallel imports. It included a variety of items: from plants to medicines, from soap to weapons. In terms of technology and electronics, the list includes products from brands such as Siemens, Panasonic, Apple, Intel, Samsung, Dyson, Electolux, GoPro, Asus, JBL, Logitech and many others. The largest Russian marketplaces - Ozon and Yandex.Market - are already importing goods through parallel imports.
