Canoo EV electric minivans are selling like hot cakes in the US

The U.S. Army is actively eyeing electric vehicles as part of an earlier plan to transition the U.S. Navy to zero-emission vehicles by 2035. Therefore, the Pentagon has already approached General Motors to provide an electric Hummer for study, but as it turns out, GM was not the only one to receive this honor: the US Army also asked Canoo to provide its electric minivan for study. The car is supposed to be used both in operations and simply in a garrison environment.

The Canoo EV is notable for having previously been selected by NASA as the official vehicle for the Artemission. But that's not all - retailer Walmart recently ordered 4,500 electric vehicles. In general, there is demand for these cars, although the interest from the Pentagon in the Canoo EV is somewhat unexpected. There is already a joke on the Web that troops are not needed with such army vehicles: why send soldiers to the battlefield if the enemy is already dying of laughter when he sees the Canoo EV.

Meanwhile, Canoo itself is pleased with the interest from the military department. “As an American company based in the heart of the country, we are honored to be selected by the US Army,” said Tony Aquila, investor, chairman and CEO of Canoo. “This is another opportunity to showcase our proprietary technology, which can be customized and adapted for different use cases.”

The electric car selected by NASA will be equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle (its power will be 355 hp), allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The maximum range on a single charge will be about 400 km. But for military purposes, an all-wheel drive version with a large power reserve is clearly needed.
