Swiss students presented a prototype housing for astronauts conquering the Moon and Mars

The Swiss Rosenberg School showed a housing project for astronauts conquering the Moon and Mars. It is noteworthy that school students aged 6 to 18 worked on the project, and SAGA Space Architects helped them to implement it. The housing model was developed in such a way that such houses could be delivered on SpaceX Starship rockets.

A three-story housing prototype is located in the school's experimental park. A kind of space house includes spaces for rest and work. Two astronauts can live in one such building. The dimensions and shape are specially adapted to the dimensions of the cargo compartment of the SpaceX Starship rocket.

The frame of the residential complex was made of steel and covered with anti-corrosion paint. After the master installed the inner walls and took up the decoration and interior. At the same time, the Italian company Ingersoll began printing the outer shell of the building on one of the largest 3D printers in the world. The modules of the residential complex were covered with insulating material and, together with the unpacked shell, were taken to Switzerland. Already on site, the engineers assembled the structure and sheathed it with 3D printed panels.

The layout of the internal compartments is designed in such a way as to ensure the most efficient use of limited space. According to a representative of the Rosenberg school, a crew of two astronauts can live and work in such a residential complex, and on the ground floor there is a storage compartment for the Spot robotic dog from Boston Dynamics.

In the future, the Swiss school plans to continue to involve schoolchildren in space projects. The leadership of the educational institution believes that in this way children stop being afraid of technology and begin to believe that they can already now apply their knowledge and skills to implement ideas that are significant for humanity.
