Russian developers of information security tools faced interruptions in the supply of foreign components

Russian developers of special information security tools (SZI) faced interruptions in the supply of foreign components for the production of the required volumes of their information security solutions for banks, telecom operators and government agencies. Problems with the components were confirmed by the media at UserGate and Security Code.

Violation of current logistics, sanctions and a shortage of components have led to the fact that the local production of firewalls, PACKs for encryption and electronic locks for protection against unauthorized access has now slowed down. Enterprises do not have time to release the required number of solutions previously ordered by customers due to the lack of the necessary chips and elements. They had a queue for the release of products from several weeks to four months.

Representatives of developers of information security solutions explained that this situation occurs against the backdrop of a large number of orders due to the exit from the market of Cisco, Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks, as well as due to the problem with supply chains that have arisen since the beginning of the year. They have last year's stock in warehouses, but these positions have already begun to deplete.

Experts believe that Russian manufacturers have begun ordering chips from Intel, AMD, NXP, Texas Instruments and Xilinx through alternative channels, but this process was not as fast as expected. Also, new deliveries in this case can only be of small volumes, and not several thousand chips, as companies previously ordered directly from foreign partners.

The "Security Code" specified the media that they temporarily suspended the supply of Sobol electronic locks and faced delays in the supply of hardware and software encryption systems.

Industry representatives fear that vendors will not have time to increase supplies by the end of the year, and the number of orders for domestic information security equipment will only increase. In their opinion, the same situation may arise in the network equipment industry. Broadcom and Marvell Technology Group processors are installed in Eltex and QTECH routers and switches, Polygon uses Freescale Semiconductor processors in network devices, and T8 installs Intel processors in data transmission equipment.
