NASA will stay on the ISS until 2030

The United States will operate the International Space Station until 2030, with approval from both the executive and legislative branches of government. This was stated by the head of NASA Bill Nelson.

“The Appropriations Act gives us what we have been striving for for years: extending the operation of the ISS until 2030. Now it is the law,” he said at a meeting of the NASA Advisory Board.

A package of budget allocations for the needs of NASA, which provides for the operation of the ISS until 2030, is included in the law on supporting the production of semiconductors in the United States (CHIPS and Science Act) for 280 billion dollars. It has already been signed by Joe Biden.

Russia adheres to other plans for the ISS: the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that after 2024 Russia will begin the process of withdrawing from the project. However, most likely, the exit will be long, since the launch of the first module of the Russian Orbital Service Station is scheduled only for 2028.
