A Porsche Taycan Turbo S sets a new record at the famous Nürburgring track

Porsche development pilot Lars Kern completed the Nürburgring in a Porsche Taycan Turbo S in just 7 minutes and 33 seconds.

The sports electric sedan has been fitted with a new performance kit, as well as the required roll cage and racing seats. Otherwise, it was a copy of a production car and weighed the same.

The performance kit includes 21-inch RS-Spyder design wheels with road-approved Pirelli P Zero Corsa sport tires now available for the Taycan. The composition of their tires is similar to that of racing tires. Another piece of the performance kit is an update to the Porsche 4D Chassis Control software to work better with sports tyres.

Previously, only thoroughbred supercars fit into the range of 7 minutes 33 seconds. With the new performance kit, I was able to go even faster and the car was even more agile.

The performance kit is currently only available in Germany and only for the 2023 Taycan Turbo S sports sedan. Production of these vehicles began at the end of July 2022, with the performance kit itself expected at the end of the year.

We are very pleased that the Nürburgring record for electric cars is once again in the hands of Porsche. This lap time not only shows how much potential lies in our new sports kit, but also once again confirms the Taycan's sporting genes.
