Roscosmos: set a record for the number of launched Russian satellites

On August 9, 2022, the Russian Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle and the Fregat upper stage were launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The launch was successful, moreover, it was possible to set a new record.

According to the press service of Roscosmos, all small spacecraft launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on August 9 were taken over by the developers. The simultaneous launch of 16 Russian satellites was a record in the history of the Russian rocket and space industry.

16 small Russian devices - CubeSX-HSE-2, Monitor-1, UTMN, CYCLOPS, Siren, KAI-1, Kuzbass-300, Skoltech-B1, Skoltech-B2, Polytech Universe-1, Polytech Universe -2, Vizard, Geoscan-Edelweiss, MIET-AIS, ISOI and ReshUCube.

The satellites are intended for scientific and technological research, including the development of technologies for implementing inter-satellite communication channels, measuring the level of electromagnetic radiation, remote sensing of the Earth and monitoring the environmental situation.

In addition to 16 Russian satellites, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket successfully launched the Iranian Khayyam Earth remote sensing spacecraft into the target orbit.
