Sales of the smartphone of the French brand Wiko started in Russia

The M.Video-Eldorado retailer has started selling a smartphone from the French brand Wiko, which belongs to the Chinese company Tinno Mobile Technology. At the end of August, MegaFon will start selling gadgets.

Since the end of February, new smartphones have not entered the Russian markets, some companies have suspended sales in the country and stopped deliveries here. Wiko smartphones began to sell against the backdrop of declining sales and a shortage of Apple and Samsung gadgets.

Sales of the Wiko T3 smartphone have started in M.Video-Eldorado stores, and after some time the sales network will replenish the model range. In addition, the company will supply headphones and other accessories to Russia.

Wiko was founded in France in 2011. In 2017, the company was acquired by the Chinese manufacturer Tinno Mobile Technology. Wiko gadgets are sold in 35 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The brand's share was 5% of the French smartphone market, according to Canalys analysis. Brand awareness in the country reached 72% last year.

MTS did not rule out that Wiko devices will go on sale in the operator's stores.

According to Mobile Research Group Lead Analyst Eldar Murtazin, Wiko is a local brand that promotes its products in a particular country or region. He says that the characteristics of the company's smartphones cannot be called outstanding, but they are not satisfactory.

M.Video-Eldorado will sell Wiko T3 in the price range of ₽10-15 thousand. Murtazin believes that the brand's gadgets can be attributed to the price range of ₽15-22 thousand, where Wiko will compete with Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung and others companies.

Wiko T3 comes with a 6.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600. The smartphone is equipped with an Octa-core CPU (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53), PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4 GB RAM , 128 GB ROM, three cameras (48 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP). T3 runs on Android 11 and does not support NFC and 5G. The device is presented in black and gold colors.

In the second quarter of 2022, the share of Chinese brands in the Russian market was 65%, according to M.Video-Eldorado. At the beginning of the year, this figure did not exceed 50%.
