Russia - “Everything will rise in price

Nikita Gudkov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Za Rulem, based on the results of the Parallel Import conference, where he spoke with dealers, spare parts suppliers, as well as independent experts (and not with deputies and ministers), made the following conclusions.

There is no parallel import of new cars performed by legal entities and there will not be in the foreseeable future. The reasons are the excessive obstacles of ornate legislation, the additional tax burden compared to individuals, the lack of transportation capacity for the delivery of cars in thousands (not hundreds) of pieces, and even little things.

It is also more profitable and easier for individuals to import used cars - for example, they can carry cars of the fourth eco-class, and "yuriks" - at least the fifth, which are more expensive. But even this is an ordinary private import, even if it is for sale, and not parallel imports as a systemic phenomenon.

He noted that in Russia there is no "real force or organization that would defend the interests of motorists who are rapidly becoming carless."

Parallel import of spare parts became possible only after August 4, and it is too early to say whether it will work or not. Rare parts for unpopular cars have already disappeared, and it’s not a fact that they will return at all. Most of the suppliers want to work with Russia, but in various forms they are hiding and waiting. China and Turkey will save us, but not in everything and not always.

Nikita Gudkov added that “everything will rise in price”, and “the concept of a guarantee for cars may de facto disappear or become a product of insurance companies. At extra charge".
