In early August, AvtoVAZ announced that it would change the industrial strategy of the Lada-Izhevsk plant. The production of the Vesta model was postponed, the site is being prepared for the production of spare parts and the future AvtoVAZ model. In connection with these plans, the number of employees of the plant has been significantly reduced.
About 1.9 thousand workers quit the Lada-Izhevsk plant over the past three weeks. Almost all of them took advantage of corporate social programs. Thus, at present, only 1.3 thousand people work at Lada-Izhevsk against 3.2 thousand at the beginning of August. About 1,000 workers are expected to remain at the plant in the future.
The company offered its employees financial compensation for their dismissal. Depending on the length of service, it ranges from 5 to 7 average salaries or 12 minimum wages.
Recall that the Lada-Izhevsk plant has been part of the AvtoVAZ Group since 2011, when the largest modernization of the production complex began at it. The capacities of the Izhevsk enterprise are designed to produce 220,000 cars a year. Since September 2015, the Lada-Izhevsk plant has been producing the Lada Vesta sedan, the Lada Vestation wagon and their cross-versions Lada Vesta Cross and Lada Vesta SW Cross. In February 2022, the company launched the production of the updated Lada Vesta.
