At Razercon 2022, Razer unveiled something of a surprise with its first handheld gaming console. The novelty is called Edge, and it was immediately recorded as a Steam Deck competitor.
You won’t be able to buy the novelty right now – it will go on sale in January 2023. But the price is already known: $400 for the Wi-Fi-only version (there will be an option with a built-in 5G modem). For those who want to be guaranteed to receive the device at the start of sales, it offers to place a pre-order - for only $ 5.
Edge received a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It is in the screen that the Edge’s key difference from Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch lies: its frame rate is 144 Hz versus 60 Hz for competitors. Razer also chose a non-standard hardware platform: Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x with a CPU running at 3.0 GHz. The amount of RAM was 8 GB, the amount of built-in flash memory - 128 GB.
The console received a 5000 mAh battery and support for several gaming services at once: Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now and Epic Games Store, as well as Steam Link.
