Tesla begins pre-sales of SSD drives for electric vehicles

Tesla has opened pre-orders for solid state drives to expand the base memory of electric vehicles. A 1TB SSD will set you back $350. The company promises to start deliveries in February next year.

Tesla said that the drive would be useful for storing Tesla Arcade games and videos, including those from the dash cam. The SSD drive is protected from impacts in the car interior, and also withstands extreme temperatures, the manufacturer assures.

The device will ship with a USB-C cable included. The product description states that it is optimized for games and supports Steam. The SSD drive supports the entire range of Tesla electric vehicles.

On December 14, as part of a beta test, the company provided the opportunity for owners of new iterations of the Model S and Model X to launch games from Steam. Electric vehicles are equipped with a computer with a performance of 10 teraflops based on the AMD Navi 23 GPU with RDNA 2 architecture.
